The Mannino family has been running Oma’s restaurant Bradenton Beach on Anna Maria Island since 1982. Because the owner is from Sicily, the tomato sauce may be a little sweet. On Columbus Day, October 10, 1977, Lorenzo Amato, the owner of oma, prepared the world’s largest pizza.
At a cost of $25,000, the pizza was made with 2,500 pounds of flour, 100 gallons of water, 79 gallons of tomato sauce, 315 pounds of cheese, and 315 pounds of pepperoni.
Making the world’s largest pizza is not only a claim to fame in the Guinness Book of World Records, but it also provides a unique marketing aspect for their authentic Italian cuisine.
