ANNA MARIA ISLAND FISHING CHARTERS BEGINNINGS & HISTORY
Matt Ercoli has been running Tamp Bay fishing charters full time for 20+ years and is U.S. Coastguard licensed and commercially insured Florida charter boat captain. Five years into his career Matt had already won the Saltwater National Championships on top of racking up 5 world records. As a premier Florida fishing guide, Matt lives, eats, and breaths Florida fishing.
Captain Matt’s dock is strategically located on Anna Maria Island, perfect for Tampa Bay fishing and a very short run to some great Sarasota fishing. From Tampa Bay’s most undeveloped clear water flats, some of Florida’s best tarpon passes or offshore in less than 10 minutes.
Captain Matt is a true professional fishing guide who is deliberate, confident, and most importantly patient. Every day Matt leaves his home in search of tarpon, snook, redfish, trout, kingfish, permit grouper, snapper, tuna, giant sharks, and the massive goliath grouper.
CAPTAIN MATT TAKES PRIDE IN HIS WORK AS A TAMPA BAY FISHING CHARTERS GUIDE
In addition, Captain Matt is an expert at inshore, offshore, light tackle, heavy tackle, and fly fishing. He runs the finest quality custom tower Sheaffer bay boat. Matt is prepared for any and every kind of fishing the Tampa and Sarasota area has to offer.
Tampa Bay fishing is some of the best in the world, and Captain Matt takes full advantage of it. Captain’s dock is an easy drive from Tampa, Sarasota, St. Petersburg, Clearwater, Lakeland, Longboat Key, and Siesta Key.
Captain Matt’s motto is there are no excuses, as long as it’s safe and comfortable to be on the water. If someone is having a killer day catching fish, it might as well be Captain Matt and his charter fishermen. He finds enjoyment in teaching first-time fishermen and children just as much as he enjoys the challenge.
FISHING CHARTER TAMPA BAY, FISHING BOAT TAMPA
Captain Matt’s Sheaffer is a 24ft. custom Sheaffer with a new 225 Suzuki four stoke powering it. The boat is a full 8.6 feet wide, with a large casting platform on the bow. It weighs 6800 pounds and is full foam injected so it is truly completely unsinkable.
Also, the boat is equipped with a 7-foot to-the-floor Tuna tower. That puts the Captain’s eyes at about 13 ft off the water. This makes it possible for Matt to see schools of fish hundreds of yards away. The bait tank is 50 gallons plus with 2700 gallons per hour of raw fresh sea water running into it.
Captain Matt keeps his Tampa Bay fishing boat on a boat lift out of the water at his private dock. The boat is equipped with 8 hp trolling motors, 6 large AGM batteries, and onboard chargers so he can chase a school of tarpon all day long without running out of juice.

Captain David White was very responsive and helpful in identifying the perfect six hour fishing trip for our foursome with different fishing backgrounds.During the trip he did everything humanly possible to ensure that we caught a wide variety of fish and he was successful. We particularly enjoyed how many different locations he stopped at in the Bay and traveling up the Manatee River.David’s knowledge of the habitat was amazing as was his boat handling skills. We had a fabulous and fun day and look forward to doing it again with Captain David
