ABOUT THE SLIPPERY MERMAID SUSHI BAR
As one might expect, this sushi bar draws heavily on traditional Japanese cuisine. However, it also has a non-traditionalist bent that may make purists cringe, while also appealing to people who are wary of raw fish and generally straying outside of a tight gastronomic comfort zone.
The name of Karen Hineman’s sushi restaurant, The Slippery Mermaid, was inspired by such a query. It launched in Navarre in 2009. Hineman’s goal was not simply to open a standard sashimi restaurant; she wanted to offer a boutique experience where diners could taste the wonders of well-crafted sushi in a setting as intimate and artsy as the rolls so expertly created by the chefs behind the counter at the charming little seaside venue.
In addition, the Slippery Mermaid Sushi Bar provides a unique blend of sushi for purists and explorers alike, with affordability and variety without compromising quality or experience.
“The Slipp” provides a dining experience that combines innovative flavor with a casual, comfortable setting. A diverse cuisine has something for everyone, even land lovers!
BEST SUSHI ON NAVARRE: THE SLIPPERY MERMAID SUSHI BAR
Traditional items on the menu include the California roll and the dragon roll, but with delicacies like the Psycho Mermaid Roll and the Crabby Sailor, The Slippery Mermaid puts her own take on things, delivering a punch of colors, textures, and tastes that please the tongue and dazzle the eye.
Their quaint home is located in the heart of Navarre, Florida, right off bustling Highway 98, on the Santa Rosa Sound, taking advantage of the warm winds and stunning view of Navarre Beach with both indoor and outdoor dining. Our Florida Room is a popular year-round “al fresco” experience.
