CACTUS FLOWER CAFE BEGINNINGS & HISTORY
The first Cactus Flower Cafe, where it all started was at Pensacola. Lee Kafeety and Joni DeRome have been bringing traditional Mexican food to the Pensacola area without all the animal fat or refried items since 2001.
Lee decided to change careers in 1999, after several years of operating a neighborhood video store. Big box video stores were sweeping over the country, and she knew it was only a matter of time until I was forced to close.
Everyone told her her dryness would be crazy, but she was confident that the only thing she loves to do with passion.. that makes people happy… is cook Mexican food… the Mexican food she grew up in California.. the Mexican food that he had learned from her Aunt Carmen that love her so much.
Along the way, they try to create some items of her own items she loved, like Cactus Flower Mango Shrimp. Her photo adorns their main dining room.
Joni Derome joined Lee as a partner in 2003, bringing decades of culinary expertise with her. Joni assisted Cactus Flower Cafe in expanding into a multilocation restaurant. They hope you like their take on Mexican cuisine!
BEST MEXICAN FOOD ON NAVARRE: CACTUS FLOWER CAFE
They are a healthier version of typical Mexican foods produced with love. There is no lard, no additional animal fats, and everything is made from scratch every day. Even their drinks are created with fresh ingredients; no mixes are used; it may take a little longer, but it is well worth the wait. They feel that fresh is always the best!

We stopped here on our weekend getaway to Navarre. This was my first experience at a Café with this specific mix of food styles. I would definitely recommend to anyone visiting the Navarre area. These were the BEST mahi mahi tacos! The staff was very friendly and the establishment was clean! Note: we originally thought this was a typical Mexican cuisine restaurant… the cheese dip was wonderful, but not typical of a Mexican restaurant.

Excellent choice for great Mexican food!
We love this restaurant! We were craving Mexican
food but didn’t want fast food. This was the
answer! We had a party of 11 and everything from
the chips, hot sauce, queso (choice of spiciness)
and Queso-bites (which are amazing) to the tacos,
tostadas, chimichangas, flautas, quesadillas and
nachos were fantastic. And the portions are huge!
Great service and friendly staff. Highly
recommend!
