THE DONUT EXPERIMENT BEGINNINGS & HISTORY
Anna Maria Donuts in Anna Maria, FL was the birthplace of the Donut Experiment in 2012. Shawn and Cecilia Wampole, the original crazy scientists, are a husband-and-wife duo.
The couple, who were visiting Anna Maria Island from the Philadelphia region, was disappointed to discover that there was no doughnut store when they arrived. What began as a joke about owning a doughnut store finally led to the couple quitting their jobs, selling their property, and moving to Florida after some careful preparation.
Shawn and Cecilia have long admired boutique-style doughnut shops and wished for their establishment to be more of an experience. So they decided to open a business where the donuts were produced in front of the customers and where the customers could choose what THEY wanted on THEIR doughnuts.
Much to the couple’s astonishment and delight, both Anna Maria Island locals and visitors welcomed their concept and helped them become one of the most popular restaurants on AMI.
They are currently looking for like-minded individuals who wish to join the Donut Experiment team and launch their own store. Shawn and Cecilia are excited to introduce their made-to-order donuts to a whole new generation of donut enthusiasts.

Every doughnut at The Donut Experiment is a work of art! We begin with a wonderful, fresh-baked cake donut and then let clients choose from our extensive range of icings and toppings.
They provide a wide range of beverages, including hot and cold brew coffee, espresso, cappuccino, hot and iced lattes, and more. They also provide for birthdays, weddings, business gatherings, festivals, and other special occasions! Their catering packages are defined for orders of up to 100 people, however, catering packages for any occasion can be modified.”
