MINNIES BEACH CAFE BEGINNINGS & HISTORY
Minnie’s treats everyone who comes in, from locals to vacationers, like family, and the crew truly is extended and chosen family.
Smart emphasizes the importance of this while taking on new employees. She’s worked with some of the same individuals since she, her husband Mary, and other business partners, who’ve since retired, acquired the café many years ago when it was Brian’s Sunny Side Up.
Smart moved to Florida from Cape Cod in 1989, and it was love at first sight when she came to check on a friend’s property on the Island. She left Holiday a few days later in 1991 and has never looked back. Smart began working at the neighborhood eatery, now known as Minnie’s Beach Café, in 1995, when it was known as Brian’s Sunny Side Up.
Though she has relocated from the Island to West Bradenton, Smart’s connection to the Island community is as strong as ever, shining brightly through the gloom of the COVID-19 epidemic.
Minnie’s Beach Cafe is the most welcoming breakfast and lunch restaurant on the island. Located in the same plaza as Just 4 Fun Rentals and the AMI Health and Fitness Center in Holmes Beach.
BEST BREAKFAST ON AMI : MINNIE’S BEACH CAFE
Minnie’s Beach Cafe has been compared to the Anna Maria Island version of “Cheers” on the restaurant’s Facebook page. You’ll go in as a stranger and leave feeling like family. Good cuisine at a reasonable price, served by the friendliest people. That’s unbeatable!
Waffles, pancakes, biscuits & gravy, omelets, egg sandwiches, and other breakfast items are available. Lunch offerings include a variety of specialized sandwiches, country-fried steak, and more.
