Considering a trip to beautiful Florida? Don’t abandon your best friend who is furry! With open arms (and paws!), Anna Maria Island is a hidden gem that awaits you and your four-legged friend.
Even though leash regulations apply, there are lots of ways to involve your dog in the enjoyment on the island. Here’s what I discovered when touring Anna Maria Island with my lively Golden Retriever, Charlie.
Beach Bliss (Almost)
Although dogs are not permitted on the beaches of Anna Maria Island, worry not! You can reach the Palma Sola Causeway on Manatee Avenue with a quick ten-minute drive. This location has a sandy beach area that’s ideal for a cool swim and some dog fetching. To ensure that everyone enjoys the beach responsibly, don’t forget to pick up after your dog and keep it on a leash.
Park Playdates
Charlie was eager to meet new people because he is such a social butterfly. Fortunately, Holmes Beach Dog Park on Anna Maria Island is a wonderful dog park. There are designated areas within this fence-in space for big and little dogs, as well as chairs and water fountains for both pet owners and their young charges. Charlie loved making new furry friends and running after tennis balls.
Exploring the Island Gems
There are beautiful walks on Anna Maria Island that are ideal for you and your dog, right beyond the beach and dog park. A wonderful option is Robinson Preserve, a large wildlife preserve with well-kept pathways. We strolled among the thick forest, taking in the crisp atmosphere and the sights and sounds of the natural world. Ever the inquisitive traveller, Charlie detected every intriguing aroma along the route with his nose.
Pet Pampering
Visit Anna Maria Island Pet Company for all of your needs regarding supplies for pets. A huge selection of food, treats, toys, and accessories are available at this welcoming establishment. With a bag of his favorite snacks and a squeaky new toy, your dog will be completely spoiled!
Post-Adventure Relaxation
You and your pet can relax at one of Anna Maria Island’s many pet-friendly eateries after an exciting day of exploring. Charlie enjoyed some water on the beautiful outside patio of Bridge Street Bistro as I enjoyed a nice meal.
Charlie took us to Anna Maria Island, and it was an amazing excursion. Above all, we enjoyed a great time together while discovering new locations and creating enduring memories. Now prepare to explore the wonders of Anna Maria Island with your pet by your side by packing your bags and grabbing your leash!
